What they wanted
BeLonG To Youth Services is the national organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans young people in Ireland. BeLonG To’s national network of LGBT youth groups was founded in 2007 and includes over 20 groups nationwide. BeLonG To wanted to expand and update the Start Up Pack to reflect changes in empowerment, legislation, governance and best practice in the delivery of targeted LGBT youth services, as well as develop an accreditation programme for LGBT youth groups nationwide.
What we did
We developed a survey for youth workers and young people from LGBT youth groups across the country and produced recommendations on how to develop and improve services for building safe, effective and sustainable LGBT youth services. The recommendations included developing an accreditation programme, a series of quality standards, and practical documents with supports to review good practice and policies related to LGBT youth work.
